It has been a while since I posted, but thought I would try again. I have a John DONALDSON, who was born in England in 1745 according to his Rev. War records on file in the SC Archives. He was living in the Old Cheraws District (now Chesterfield Co.,SC) during 1775 with a wife named Sarah. He was also listed as being a merchant. He bought a lot of land during the war in Richmond Co.,NC, a stone's throw from where he lived and moved there during the war. He died in Richmond Co.,NC and left a will in 1781 naming his wife and three sons, Peter, William and John. Sarah remarried a Daniel Hicks, sold most of her husband's land and by 1786 had left the area with her sons Peter and William. John Donaldson, Jr. stayed in the area. I am trying to find Sarah and her other two sons, Peter and William. Any leads appreciated. Thank you. Joanne H. N.C.
