    3. I am looking for information on the "DONALDSON Line" of ships - steamships, etc. Family tradition had it that my ancestor, Rosina DONALDSON (b. abt. 1828 in Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland) &/or her family were somehow associated with this DONALDSON Shipping Company. My Web search didn't turn up any results, but I did find a listing in the *1928* BC (Canada) Directory for the "DONALDSON Line" at 5th Floor, 744 W. Hastings St., Vancouver BC. Does anyone have any knowledge of this shipping line? Thank you for any help. John & Marcia in BC, Canada - sandness@nethop.net

    1. [DONALDSON-L] DONALDSON - REYNOLDS
    2. Hi Everyone Just thought since it was a New Year I would see if there was anyone that may have information on the following: I am looking for information on my great grandparents John Donaldson and Alice (Reynolds) Donaldson. This is the information I have John G Donaldson born 1864-65. (On my grandfathers birth record he is listed as John G. on the 1920 Census he is listed as John A.) Alice R ( Reynolds ) Donaldson born 1872-73. ( again on my grandfathers birth record she is Listed as Alice R, on the 1920 Census she is listed as Alice A. and on the Fourteenth Census of the United States: 1920 - Population she is Listed as Alice R. Really confusing huh? For me also. On the population census it says that John's Father and Mother were born in Maryland. It said that Alice's Mother was from Washington DC and her Father from West Virginia. Names of them are at this time unknown. The Children of John and Alice are: Mamie - (not sure if this is her real name or just a nick name) was told that she was thought to have married a Roland Hughes or Hughs. Garnett - ( might have been Garnett Albert) married Gladys_______ Charles - born 1901 ( as far as I know never married Elwood - born 14 August 1903 died February 1974 married Pauline ________ Morris - born 4 March 1905 died October 1969 married Virginia Could have been Helen Virginia or Virginia Helen. Cynthia E. - born 1907 died September 20,1967 married John D Ferguson Leonard Francis - born February 1, 1910 married Victoria Gladys Jenkins. ( these are my grandparents.) I know that John and Alice lived in Washington DC for sure 1901 when Charles was born until at least 1920. On my grandfathers birth record it says that they lived at 1257 36th Street. On the 1920 Cencus it said they lived at 1257 35th street. John was an ironworker. Alice a housewife. In 1948 Washington DC City Directory Elwood and Morris where listed as abestos workers. They lived on canal Rd. I do not know any information on John or Alice's parents or siblings if any. Other than this I have no other information. Help!!!! Does this family sound familar to anyone??? Thanks Kris/Doeeyes83@aol.com

    3. There is a Donaldson and Donelson family member listed in Starr's Cherokee genealogy of the old Cherokee Indian families. His book is indexed, as well as the 1835 Cherokee census, on line at a rare book site at http://members.aol.com/rarebk Once there, go to BOOKLISTS, and scroll down to the Cherokee genealogy books, and the tutorial. It is all self-explanatory. Note, there is no WWW in the address. The site also contains a Cherokee genealogy "how-to" tutorial you can read that explains how to do Cherokee genealogy research, the best explanation I've seen to date. 1. [DONALDSON-L] Re: DONELSON - John & Elizabeth from Germany
    2. Seeking information on DONELSON, John & Elizabeth parents of Henry Donelson, as noted on his death certificate place of their birth is noted as Germany and information was given by his widow. Henry's death certificate states he was born in Philadelphia and had lived in Salem County, NJ for over 50 years. Henry was born 1835, died 1902. Henry was a Civil War veteran and his surname is spelled Donelson, Donaldson, Donnelson, and Donnilson on the bonds paid to his wife Harriet Roork Donelson. Since she couldn't write, it didn't matter to her how they spelled it, so long as she got her money. Even the roster papers are inconsistent, however Donelson is the most prevalent spelling at present in our branch(es) of the family. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Jeanne Woolbert Kincaid (descending through both my grandmothers who were grand-daughters of Henry Donelson) >>

    2. I am trying to find information on my ggrandfather if anyone can help. His name is John G Donaldson. He was born 1865 in Washington DC. He married an Alice Reynolds b.1873 of Virginia. John G Donaldson was an ironmaker in 1910 and resided in Washington DC. at that time. They had 12 children born to them. When my grandfather was born in 1910 there were 7 children living. All of this information has come from my grandfathers birth record. The children of John and Alice where: Mamie b? d? Elwood Donaldson b 1903? d1974? Morris Donaldson b 1905? d 1969? Garnet Donaldson b? d? Cynthia Donaldson Ferguson b 1907 d 1967 Charles Thomas or Thomas Charles Donaldson b? d? Leonard Frances Donaldson b 1910 d --still living-- (my grandfather) I am unsure or have no idea of some of the dates with question marks. My grandfather remembers almost nothing other than his parents names. He doesn't even know where they are burried or when they died. Or any of there siblings. I am guessing they probably died in 1920's or 1930's. I do know that my grandfather was the youngest. I need help. Anyone know any of these names? Thanks Kris King/Doeeyes83@aol.com

    1. [DONALDSON-L] Donaldson Name
    2. Sally A. Pieper
    3. Hi there, Just joined this info site. Great grandfather was a John Donaldson born in Loughans, Tyrone, Ireland in 1861. I have no clues to the names of his parents. Could any one help me with some basic research - what nationality is Donaldson - Irish, Scottish, Scots-Irish? Any tidbits would be greatly appreciated since I'm just getting started on geneology research. Happy hunting, Sally Pieper
