    3. Still searching.. John F. Donaldson. b. Ky 1805 (per census) married Sena Kimbrough b. NC d/o Moses Kimbrough Moved to Mo. prior to 1830 ,is found along with Kimbroughs in Randolph Co Mo. Found in Milam Co. Tx 1850,land record as early as 1848. Names of children of John F. and Sena Kimbrough Donaldson James W. b. 1829 Mo Jarvis b. 1832 Mo Robert J. b. 1833 Mo Jesse Sinclair b. 1836 Mo. Sarah E. b. 1836 Mo. John F.(2) b. 1838 Mo Thomas Jefferson Donaldson b. July 1840 Mo. Martha A. b. 1842 Mo. George W. b. 1845 Texas Four of the above served in local militias in Texas and CSA Civil War. Thos. J. Donaldson married 1st Mattie Fisher,2nd Rebecca McKinney d/o Uriah McKinney,is known by family to be from American Indian heritage. On Thos. J.'s pension records there is a T.B.Fisher who was with him in the war. Any Fisher connections out there? Any McKinneys? Thos. J. had a son John Fleming Donaldson; does this mean that the "F" in the first John F. is Fleming? There are several connections between the Flemings and Donaldson in early Ky.so this is an important item of interest to searchers of this family. This family does not appear to have any connections, yet,to the Doanaldsons who came to Tx from the most southern states. One more question. Who was the Stephen Donaldson, actually there were two,who appear in Nacogsoches Tx early records? Was the younger Stephen an older son of John F. Donaldson? They appear to be connected as a Stephen appears in Milam Co Tx later . Maybe this will interest someone on the list.Any response? Marion Donaldson

Their children: Thomas (my gggrandfather), Samuel, Andrew Jackson, Dave Perry, Polly Ann and James Stokely. Who were the parents of James Donalson, Sr? Family tradition and the Kansas obituary of Samuel says he was a descendant of Rachel Donelson Jackson's family. I have no proof of this. I would like to communicate with descendants of James and Nancy Vaughan Donalson. On one of the Family Tree Maker disks, I found a Frank A. Lousignont of Houston, TX who submitted information on this same family, but when I wrote him the letter was returned with no forwarding address. Does anyone out there know Frank? Thank you!! 1. [DONALDSON-L] RE: early Greenbrier Co VA DONALDSONs
    2. Juhling McClung
    3. Dear M.E. People coming into this area of Greenbrier County in the 1760-1780's were, by definition, first generation to this area. I have several folks in addition to William Donaldson that just seem to have come out of "no where." The Donaldson family did not decide how to spell their name until about 1900. Some of this was from lack of ability to spell, but among the more educated members of the family, there was a debate as to what the original name was. Various spellings included Donalson, Danelson, and several other variations. Since many immigrants came as family units, it would seem reasonable to see if we can't hook William up with some other family members. In this regard, your David Donaldson seems to be the correct age to fit into a group of brothers. Perhaps some other subscribers have an older generation that might hook up one or both of these men.
