    1. [DONACHY] Re: My Donachy ancestors
    2. Good Afternoon Mary, My name is Kevin Maxwell Donachy. My great-great grandfather came from Lewisburg Pa. He was a brickmaker. His son was in the Civil War in the 151st Pennsylvania Volunteers,(his name is on the rosters) and later was the president of the local chapter of the Grand Army of the Republic, a civil war veterans organization. My great- great grandfather lived past 1864 at least so Alexander may have been his father.   I did a bunch of research in the early 2000's about the family. Touchy bunch. I actually met with some hostility trying to find facts about the family. I found out our family was from Scotland, Donachy is a derivative of Sons of Duncan, a Scottish noble that captured an enemy of the King. It's on the Crest. Used to know the Tartan, War cry is "Son's of dogs come eat ye flesh" EEEhhhhuuuwwwww! We are a sept of Clan Robertson. My grandfather was Donald Maxwell, no known brothers, My dad was Donald Maxwell Jr, his brother was William Nestor D.  I am happy to share whatever facts I can and if you are interested, my sister has a good deal of info on the family. Good luck! Please share anything else> Thanks Kevin.   -----Original Message----- From: Mary Ellen Maxell <memaxell@comcast.net> To: donachy <donachy@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thu, Sep 5, 2019 2:53 pm Subject: [DONACHY] My Donachy ancestors Would love to be in touch with other Donachy descendants from the Lewisburg area. 1. [DONACHY] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

My husband's grandfather Joseph was thelast of Thompson's (the First) children. I believe Zelda was born in Clearfield, PA area. Do you know her father's first name and if he remained in Clearfield? Author: addiel64 Surnames: Davis, Campbell, McKinzie Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.donachy/1.2.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have no family connection to Donachy genealogy but came across the surname associated with my research of Spring Creek Twp., Elk County PA. I thought maybe was mispelled and should have been Donachy but finding your information I realize the spelling is correct.I'm passing along what I found out about Thompson (Thomas) Donachy once of Hallton area: Thompson Donachy's son, Thompson (Thomas) while in the area married Zelda McKinzie who was raised by her grandmother, Mary (nee Campbell) Davis, wife of John K. Davis once a couple living in Hallton area. Zelda's mother died when she was born and Mary raised her apparently from the time of her birth. Apparently, the fact that Mary was not really Zelda's mother was not known by her grandchildren for many years. They thought Mary was their grandmother's real mother. Possibly, Zelda's mother was actually Mary's half-sister. In 1920 Thompson's family was living in St. Marys, PA. Children were listed as: Charles, William, Thomas, Jeannette (married McCalister). Thomas was a Baptist Minister once in WVA and later in Ohio, after the couple left Hallton. Zelda's burial took place in WVA This information was shared with me "second-hand" by a descendant of the Davis family but I assume it is all correct. My research involved early rural school teachers and Mary (nee Campbell) Davis was one of the earliest in Hallton area and a daughter, Francis Davis (married Mr. Niles) was also a early rural school teacher in the same area. The John K. Davis family left the Hallton area and moved to the State of Washington. That's all I have about Thomas Donachy. Because your request goes way back to 2000 it's very likely you already have found the information but I decided to send it just in case. Good luck with your research. My dad was Don Jr who died in 1972. William died in 1997(?) or close to it. My dad had three children Patricia, of Erie, Pa, Kevin and Donald of Largo Fl. William had two sons, William Jr and Jeffery. Unfortunately, Jeffery died last November. Jeff was an excellent musician. He lived and worked in the Branson Missouri area for the last 17 years. I would be happy to connect with any of my family and I have information I am willing to share and would be glad to have information about my grandfathers family and especially his two brothers who are a family mystery. 3. Dear Robert and David, I have been desperately seeking DONACHIEs for some time! My mother was a DONACHIE born Renfrewshire. Her family, (grandparents) came in to Dunbartonshire from Nth Ireland about mid 1830s. I was always given to understand they were nothing but Scottish and always knew we belonged to the Robertson clan. Her father was Robert and David is definitely a family name. Both she and her brother immigrated to NZ in the 1930's. If you are interested in what I have, please contact me.
