She was called 'Granny Pape' because after her first husband, Isaac Barrick, died she married a man named Edward Pape in Jay Co., IN who was from England. Her daughter, Elizabeth Pape, married my Grandfather's Great-uncle, Robert Logan, half-brother to Grandpa's Grandfather, James W. Logan. The children of Elvina DAUGHTERY and Isaac BARRICK are: Emily Pirena (or Pyrena), Louis and Jonas Votaw (Votaw is a family from Columbiana Co., OH who also moved to Jay Co., IN. I don't know what the connection is to Isaac and Elvina, but on my Grandma's side, one of her indirect ancestors married a VOTAW in Jay Co) Children of Elvina (sometimes spelled 'Alvina' ) and Edward PAPE are: Elizabeth, Susan, Jacob, Henrietta and Lanesta or Fanesta. Granny Pape had red hair and smoked a pipe, so goes family legend. Her daughter, Emily Pirena Barrick, married Jonathon White, Grandpa's maternal grandfather and they had a daughter, Lydia Jane, who married Charles E. Logan, Grandpa's father. Christenia Butcher's (also spelled Christina) father was named Jacob. I have been able to trace the DAUGHTERY/DOHERTY line to Ireland to a Absolam (sp?) Doerty, but haven't been able to find it again on the 'net.
