I am replying to this posting purely because the names are so similar to my own DOHERTY family. I have John Lawrence DOHERTY born (I think) Birmingham, UK in 1855. His father (from the information on his marriage certificate) was Patrick Lawrence DOHERTY, whom I believe to have been born in Ireland. I know that yours are in Canada and mine are in the UK but in view of the similarities of Christian names I wondered if you knew of any family connections who went to the UK.
