I am descended from a Doherty family of Springfield, Massachusetts. My great-grandmother was named Ellen Doherty and she married John Harrison Barrett in the Memorial church in March of 1886 or 1887. I have been looking for Ellen's family for years without success. I picked up your mentioning of the name Ellen along with Doherty. The Ellen you mention is too old to have been my Ellen because my Ellen had my grandmother Catherine in 1895, but there is a possibility of a connection. Please let me know what you think.
