He worked for an Irish company Cleghorn & Harris in Cape Town. He joined the Union of South Africa Railways in May 1896. He married Georgina Cornelia Ohlsson (know as Nellie) in Cape Town and they had 7 children namely Patrick Clarence, Eileen, Dermot Terence, Brian, Norah, Deane, Dennis the latter 2 being twins. They moved to 24 Longfellow Street East London S.A. where the twins were born. Thereafter they moved to Johannesburg and resided at 2 Wilhelmina Street, Troyville, Johannesburg S.A. After retiring Patrick had a bookshop on the Germiston Railway station. He died on 27th Nov. 1942 while on holiday in Cape Town. He corresponded with his sister-in-law Annie Doherty at 3 Desmaine Terrace Derry. His daughter Norah later corresponded with Annie at the same address. I gather that the house no longer stands. Patrick was a Roman Catholic. Searching for any relatives who can assist with family history
