Notes for BENJAMIN FRANKLIN CREEL: "At Liberty on Bear Creek" by Charles E. Boyd, c. 1984, Banner Press, Birmingham, AL. p.87 Elder Benjamin Franklin Creel (1817-188?) Elder B.F. Creel was pastor at Liberty Church 1849-51. His membership in those years was at Macedonia Church from where he served as a delegate to the Tuscaloosa Association in 1849 and 1850. He was probably among those who joined the anti-mission group when Macedonia's congregation split on the missionary issue. He was listed as a Primitive Baptist minister in the 1860 census of Marion Co., Ala. where he had moved by that time. Elder Creel was a grandson, like Elder Isaac Hagler, of Capt. Isaac Dodson. His parents were Joshua Creel (1792-1838) and Ruth (Dodson) Creel. He was married in 1835 to Phoebe Dodson, daughter of Elisha and Ruth Dodson, who along with her parents was a founding member of Liberty Church. Elder Creel's brothers, Jackson, Isaac, Washington and Wm. J., and his sons, John Thomas and Joshua D., all served in the Confederate Army. Brothers Jackson and Washington did not return from the war. vii. EMILY DODSON, b. Abt. 1827; m. AHAZ CAUDLE, 1844. viii. JESSIE M. DODSON, b. Abt. 1830; m.
