On September 14, 1922, in Montebello, Los Angeles, California, married VERNICE CANEER, (daughter of Joseph Caneer and Willie Romines), born November 22, 1903, died June 12, 1991. Chester was elected to the 78th Congress in November 1942 as the first representative from the newly reapportioned Nineteenth Congressional District of California.
