BELL FIELD9 DODSON (ANDREW CHAMP [A. CHAMP) was born February 1864 in Madison County, VA, and died May 1938 in RENICK, WV. He married JUDITH FRANCIS SMITH December 22, 1885, in MADISON COUNTY VA. Notes for BELL FIELD DODSON: Bell Dodson was one of two brothers who left Syria, VA (near Cullpeper) to move to other parts of the country. In Syria Bell worked as a cooper and a farmer. Bell moved his family to WV where he worked as a blacksmith until his legs failed him. He then worked as a cobbler. He was known for his good nature and as being a very hard worker at his trades. He was a large man with a full beard. Notes for JUDITH FRANCIS SMITH: JUDITH SMITH was from Syria, VA and moved to WV with her husband Bell. She was a very smart lady who ran her own hat business on the Front Street of Renick, WV. She took orders and sold hats to the ladies throughout the Falling Springs District.
