Barbara, I don't know the source of this Indian Princess myth, but do remember reading it on the Dodson E-Mail List. Colorado in Spanish means "colored red." I assume that Spaniards had settled in Virginia or elsewhere on the Eastern seaboard. No doubt there was a group of Indians or a tribe that they named "Colorado." If the "myth" is true, then I think Colorado here refers to an Indian tribe located on the Eastern seaboard. Someone needs to research early Indian groups to see if such a tribe existed.
