Brian, I have neither copy or abstract of Alice Chinn's will. I do now sometimes they used different terms for relations that we do today, for instance, son-in-law then often meant what step-son does today, quite a difference in determining who is who. It seems clear Alice, Dorothy, and Thomazine were sisters. We know Dorothy, married to Thomas Durham, had a daughter Mary who was probably already married to Thomas Dodson when Alice made her will. She would, in today's terms, be Alice's niece, not cousin. That may be who she meant. Just as an aside, I don't believe for a minute that Alice, Dorothy, and Thomazine born 1650/60's are daughters of the same William and Jane Smoot we have in Richmond Co. with the daughters Mary, and the other two girls whose names escape me born late 1680/90's. I know that is on an IGI/LDS chart, but too many of those have serious errors.Gene in NC ____ Always seeking ROOKS & BALLENTINE
