Here is a note from Shirley Wilcox of the Neville List. It does show that Rev. Thomas Dodson had a daughter Sarah who married a Neville. A synopsis of the will is included. Glenn Gohr (Neville List Manager & Dodson descendant) ggohr01@mail.orion.org ---------- From: Shirley L Wilcox <slwilcox@juno.com> To: NEVILLE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Dodson & Pittsylvania Co Date: Saturday, May 30, 1998 5:21 AM Glenn, Sorry about my misinterpretation of your sentence. My lineage is through William Neville who m Winifred Oldham, not Mary Neville who m Richard Jackman. This Mary Neville Jackman is still hanging in limbo. Like Mary Neville Dodson, I don't feel comfortable placing her yet. I am still toying with various possibilities. Descendants of both of these women have claimed Joseph Neville as the father. Joseph did have a son John, but that was the John, sometimes referred to as General, who m Winifred Oldham and died in Pittsburg. I have an abstract of Thomas Dodson's will in a book I own. Lela C. Adams, Abstracts of Pittsylvania Co VA Wills, 1767-1820 (Easley, SC: Souther Historical Press, Inc., 1986) [For those of you unfamiliar with Southern Historical Press, it was owned by Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr until his death. His son took over several years ago after the father died.] p49-50 Deeds & Wills Book 11 p133-134, 12 Aug 1779, pr 21 Oct 1783. Thomas Dodson. Also to son Jesse Dodson my still, it to be valued and he is to pay his brothers and sisters their equal share. I give to the use of the separate and regular Baptist to meet in the worship service of the Lord the meeting house near John Creel mill with the 3 acres of land. Appoint wife Elenor Dodson & my son George Dodson executors. Thomas Dodson Wit: Daniel Gardner, Heath Gardner, Silvany Gardner, Nathaniel Gardner. Richard Brown and William Herring security for the executors. Note: There are no other Nevil references in this book. The 1767 list of tithables for Pittsylvania Co. VA has William Hodges & Thomas Neville with two tithes, no land. [VA Tax Records from The VA Magazine of History & Biography, the Wm & Mary College Quarterly & Tyler's Quarterly, Baltimore: Genealogical Pub Co, Inc, 1983, p328). I have no idea who this Thomas Neville is. Can anyone else identify him?
