Steve, The bracketed comments about Mary Marshall Campbell were from the Will book--a comment from the compiler. I didn't look into it any more than what is there. I figured one of the dates must be wrong but since I was photocopying and not digesting while at the library, I couldn't say anything more. The s-i-l means son in law which is how Alexander Campbell seems to have been recorded in the will. So the William Smoot will is probably William Smoot son and grandson of Charles County-ers. Interesting, isn't it, that there may have been contact--or not--across the Potomac. So maybe William and Jane Smoot were related to the immigrant?
