Brian, I currently do not have a copy of Alice Stretchly's will. I'm assuming that this may have been an assumption based on Dorothy's relationship to William Smoot. Because if you assume that Dorothy is William Smoot's daughter, and that Alice is a sister to Dorothy, then Alice must be William Smoot's daughter. I think since Newman wrote that William Smoot had a daughter Alice, people assumed that this was the same Alice. I don't think we have sufficient proof at this point. Steve Smoot
