I had two hours at the Sutro library on the way back from the airport. This is what I found about William Smoot JR and SR and the usual trio of mysterious sisters: Dorothy, Alice and Thomasin. I think it was the Virginia Genealogy Quarterly (listed as "V" in the Virginia Historical society book--the one that tells you where everyone with a given name is listed in Tyler, William and Mary Quarterly and so on. I can't remember the title right now and I'm very tired, sorry), vol 18 had more information on the ancestry of the Fox and Heale families.
