I found mine as DOTTSON in some records. My McWilliams are found as Williams. ...not because they spelled it as such but because there is a huge gap in between the Mc and the Williams. Compilers of records for marriages and indexes for census years repeat the error again and again. It's always good to think of every imaginable spelling and check them all. One just never knows.
