    3. Thank you very much, Russell. I'd like to see proof, also. From the book on Dodsons of North Farnham Parish...........Volume II, Pg vi "A word of warning concerning trying to claim kinship with people with whom we cannot prove a relationship, i.e.: Are we kin to the 'John Dodson, d. 1607" of Jamestown, Virginia, or Benjamin Dodson, c. 1652 of Essex County, Virginia? Some people would like to say that these men are the direct ancestors of Charles Dodson who died in 1701. They state that a John Dodson came with Captain John Smith in 1607 and the John Dodson had sons Jesse and William Dodson. It is further stated that the aforementioned Jesse Dodson was the father of Charles Dodson, born about 1649 and died about 1701, in Richmond Co, VA. Some of these people further state that our Charles Dodson of Richmond Co, VA, married one Anne Dodson, daughter of Benjamin Dodson of Essex Co, VA. Regardless of how much one would like to claim descendancy from these aforementioned Dodsons, it must be stated UNEQUIVOCALLY that NO LEGAL RECORDS exist to prove this hypothetical descendancy of Charles Dodson. Others have said that Gervais Dodson of Northumberland Co, VA, c. 1650, was the progenitor of our family but this also has not been proved." This book by Williams & Lucas gives sources and proof of what is offered to the reader. Where it is questionable as to which Thomas Dodson or whomever did what and when, it is always stated to be just that.......questionable. It's a great book and gives enough facts that the researcher can then further their own research using what is already in the book. My own line was stuck with Jacob Dodson in Shenandoah Co. I had no idea who Jacob's parents were until I bought this book and found Jacob's father, Peter. Now I have my direct line (and others!) all the way back to Charles, Sr. The information I obtained in the book would have taken me years of research so the $70 plus priority shipping I spent has been money well used. I had received information from one lady who sent an email saying that Charles Dodson, Sr. was born in England. Needing to save space on my hard drive, I saved all of my Dodson notes to disk and deleted those on my hard drive. Today I decided to look at all of my notes and the disk is bad. All notes are gone! Disk was full! Notes are deleted from email. That's life!
