Hi, I'm not from that same line, but I just checked The Dodson Family of North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia vol. 1 by Williams and Lucas, looking for a Daniel Dodson. I didn't see one, but your Daniel may be from a branch of the family not covered in this book. There were slews of Dodsons in Pittsylvania County from 1765 when the first (Lambeth) emigrated down from Richmond Co, probably until now. My line left about 1790 when Thomas "second Fork" Dodson III moved with his wife Mary Neville to Hawkins County in what is now Tennessee. By then, "my" name had changed to Hanks and "we" were on our way west! I'll try to take a look at the Oath of Allegiance and see if a Daniel Dodson was a signer.
