Searching for ancestors of James Anthony DODSON Most of the following information is what grandmother, Pernetta "Pernie" Martin DODSON at age 85 in 1965 remembered. She lived to be 104! Her recollections were recorded by her daughter Mary Dodson Fuller. James Anthony DODSON b. Aug 27, 1853 in Westmoreland, Putnam County TN; m. Mary Susan BALL (purposted to be of Ball Mason jar family). (Had brothers Joe and Tommy (dates unk) and half brother Coleman "Coby" who died of typhoid fever, Coby had a son Clarence.) d. c. 1906 at about age 50; buried in Still Grave Yard Bowling Green, KY Had brothers Joe and Tommy DODSON (dates unk) and half brother Coleman "Coby" who died of typhoid fever, Coby had a son Clarence. In 1880 census for SUMNER Country his occupation was "working at mill". James & Mary's known children were: 1. Blanch Ellen DODSON b. 12 Oct, 1870 (1880 census lists her age as 4!)Married PASHAL 2. James William DODSON, b. 12 Feb 1878 in Sumner County TN (1880 census does not list him) married Pernetta Isabelle MARTIN Nov 27, 1907 in Gallatin, Sumner County TN. Said his father's family came from NC or VA. (Believe his *mother* was from NC.) He also said they were of Dutch descent (Most likely on his father's maternal side) 3. Norah Alice, married DEARING. 4. Wiley Leslie b. Oct 18, 1884, d. Dec 22, 1944. Pernie also said the burying ground for the Dodson family was in either ULA or WESTMORELAND. Could not find Ula TN in the Delorme Atlas. I'm trying to find out where we connect to the Virginia DODSONs about whom I see so very much on this list, but have had no luck.
