Kathleen, Thanks for all the good info. on Dodson items at the TN State Library & Archives. At present I am interested in the Frank Fuller items as he was the premier Dodson researcher before Rev. S. E. Lucas, Jr. began publishing books on the Dodsons. We are having trouble PROVING that 2nd Fork Thomas Dodson married Mary Neville, daughter of Joseph Neville, Sr. Also there are questions about 2nd Fork Thomas's first wife. She is listed only in the Rev. Elias Dodson manuscript, and the 2 children seem to have been born when he was very young. We have no record of what happened to them & we wonder if maybe there is an error and that maybe he only had one wife. We are hoping that Frank Fuller's notes will contain some documentary evidence to prove the tie in to the Neville family. Michelle Ule has been working the hardest on this connection. Also, regarding Dodson holdings at the TN State Library & Archives, I believe you missed one: Microfilm holdings: #475 Genealogical Data. Dodson Family, ca. 1780-1940. ca. 1,000 items. 1 reel. Genealogical data on the Dodson family of Tennessee and other states, compiled from collections in the Manuscripts Section of the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Sources include the Thomas J. Barnes Papers of the Tennessee Historical Society, a Dodson family Bible record, the Caroline C. Crockett Papers, McMinn County cemetery records, the Jill K. Garrett Collection, the Rebekah Senter Collection, and the Emma Sloan Collection. This info. comes from a sourcebook: GUIDE TO THE MICROFILM HOLDINGS OF THE MANUSCRIPTS SECTION, TENNESSEE STATE LIBRARY & ARCHIVES. 2nd ed. 1975. I believe this sourcebook has been revised. The address I have is: Tennessee State Library and Archives 403 Seventh Ave. North Nashville, TN 37219 The above microfilm is available on interlibrary loan, and I viewed it about 15 yrs. ago. It has original letters written by Frank Fuller, Emma Sloan, Rebekah Senter, and others. Some of the information contained on the fill has now (many years later) been proven false. But it is interesting to see all the research information that has been preserved. It also shows a search to try to locate Charles Dodson's parentage, etc., but with no luck at that time. Gervase Dodson and some other early Dodsons are mentioned that have yet to be linked up. Most of the info. on the film is contained in the 2-vol. Dodson book by Rev. S. E. Lucas (1988), but if you are interested in Dodsons in VA & TN (& a few other states), you might want to order the above microfilm by interlibrary loan. Sincerely, Glenn Gohr ggohr01@mail.orion.org
