Nathaniel Dodson and descendants are listed on pp. 993-994 of the 2-vol. Dodson book by Mrs. Sherman Williams and Rev. S. E. Lucas, Jr. Nathaniel wasb. ca. 1822; d. 1910 Dodd City, Fannin Co., TX; md. 10 Sept. 1842 Rhea Co., TN to Mary SMITH (d. 1 Jan. 1891, Webster Co., MO; buried in Whittenburg Cemetery, Webster Co. I noticed the Webster Co., MO reference as I live in Springfield, MO in a neighboring county. At the end of the article it says that the info. on Nathaniel Dodson & descendants came from: Mrs. Sue Ikerd, Route 1, Box 574, Conway, MO 65632. Anyway, my wife's parents live at Conway, MO, and I have met Mrs. Sue Ikerd before. I'll have to get in touch with her and talk Dodsons now!! Nathaniel Dodson is son of Samuel Dodson/Dotson, b. ca. 1800 TN, d. aft. 1850 in Rhea Co., TN; md. 1st, Frances Nash (b. ca. 1804 VA), dau. of Thomas Nash. Samuel Dodson/Dotson is son of Thomas Dodson-5, Samuel Dodson-4, John Dodson-3, Lambeth Dodson-2, Charles Dodson-1. These are all covered in the 2-vol. book. Also of interest is the name Abner Dodson and the surname of Hutcherson. Also in the 2-vol. Dodson book on pp. 140-141 is information on another Abner Dodson, b. in Pittsylvania Co., VA and son of David Dodson-4, George Dodson-3, Thomas Dodson-2, Charles Dodson-1. This Abner is in my line on the Dodson side. He also married Elizabeth "Betsy" Woolverton who is related to me on the Woolverton side of the family. Betsy's father was Andrew Woolverton who is my direct ancestor. Anyway, this Dodson family lived in Maury Co., TN in the 1800s and had a son named James Nevel Dodson (which gives credence to our extended Dodson & Hanks families being related to the Neville family). Info. on the descendants of this Abner and Betsy (Woolverton) Dodson was supplied by Mrs. Sallie HUTCHERSON, a granddaughter of James Nevel Dodson. I hope this helps someone.
