As listed in the following book, on p. 7: Lynn, Catherine Gaffin. THE DODSON FAMILY OF WARREN COUNTY, TENNESSEE AND ALLIED FAMILIES. C. 1974 by the author. Exact quote (including Upper Case letters): "REV JESSE DODSON'S grandfather was THOMAS DODSON and his grandmother was MARY DURHAM (Tyler's Quarterly, Vol. 24 and Va. Gen. Mag., Vol. 2, p. 3 - MARY was daughter of THOMAS and DOROTHY SMOOT DURHAM. THOMAS was a son of HENRY and JUDITH HUNT DURHAM. JUDITH was a daughter of GOV. RICHARD HUNT and wife FRANCES of Bermuda). His great-grandparents were CHARLES and ANNE DODSON of Old Rappahannock CO., VA. Further information on this family can be found in SUPPLEMENT TO THE HISTORY OF THE DODSON-DOTSON FAMILY OF SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA, compiled by Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr., 1966, Georgia." Questions: 1) I do not have Tyler's Quarterly available. The source above only says vol. 24, but with no page #. Hopefully there is an index. Can anyone find the source in Tyler's Quarterly to see just what it actually says?? 2) The second reference is also obscure. What is the full title of the publication? Is it THE VIRGINIA GENEALOGIST? Or is it the VIRGINIA MAGAZINE OF BIOGRAPHY AND HISTORY? Or what???? I've checked in the Va Mag of Biog. & History--not such reference on that vol. & page. Also, neither of these items seem to appear in SWEM'S index to early VA references. 3) Does anyone know Catherine Gaffin Lynn's address? Would love to contact her regarding the above references and also as to what kind of proof she might have for the Durham/Smoot/Hunt connections. Sincerely, Glenn Gohr ggohr01@mail.orion.org
