There is a file circulating among some researchers - although documentation, when requested, was scant - which indicates the first emigrant establishing the line was "John DODS," born about 1588; said to be one of the original 103 founders of Jamestown Colony. This same file shows him married to "Jane, daughter of Eagle Plume, Chief of Iroquois." Although Iroquois roamed freely in the area North into Canada, it was Powhattan's People found in Virginia and in the area of Jamestown. John DODS was said to have two sons, Jesse/Jessie and William DODSON, presumably from hus union with Jane. Both were said to have taken brides from a "Bride Ship" from England. This file states Jesse DODSON, born about 1623, married Judith HAGGER, born about 1627 in England. There is so much that's "romantic" about this report...it is impossible to accept without much further study. This information surely isn't new to others researching DODSON - and I would love to hear your comments. I descend from Greenham DODSON and Elinor HIGHTOWER, through his daughter, Elinor, born about 1743, and her second husband, Thomas TAYLOR. If the line of Ancestors is correct, Greenham was the son of Thomas DODSON and Mary May DURHAM; Thomas, son of Charles DODSON and Anne ELMORE; and Charles, son of Jesse DODSON and Judith HAGGER. Looking for proof on all accounts "pre- Greenham!" With best regards from a fellow-seeker, Julia Ann GILPIN (Julie Kosmata Elliott)
