Hello everyone, I have a Dodson puzzle that is driving me nuts. I have been doing considerable research on Margaret Dodson trying to connect her to her right parents. This is what I have found so far. One of my sources says that she was born Nov. 10, 1843. Her tombstone says that she was born Nov. 10, 1833, a ten year discrepency. She married Coleman Smith on 31 Dec. 1857 in Rhea co. TN, which means that she was either 14 or 24 when she married. 1860 census she is listed as 23 years old (birth 1837) 1870 census she is 25 years old ( birth 1845) 1880 census she is 39 years old (birth 1841) I could find no census for 1890 and she died Jan 9 1892 in Rhea co. TN. Here is another very interesting, possible clue. In the 1850 census I found the family of Samuel Dotson and his wife Frances with a daughter Margaret who was about 10 years old (born about 1840) living a few doors down from the family of Richard and Eliza Smith who have 17 year old Coleman living with them. It seems like a strong clue except that none of the dates match. Does anyone have any information about this Samuel Dotson or who his children married? I think that this may be the same Samuel Dotson (they were born the same year) listed in the S.E. Lucas book who was born in Grainger co. Tn and in 1820 married a Miss Williams. I hope that someone out there will have some information about this family. I can be reached at lima-lima@msn.com Thanks, Debbie
