Many of you probably know that some of the PA branch of the Dodsons migrated into (W)VA and KY around the time of the Rev War. Listed below is an outline of part of that branch. Michael had two sons that went to (now) Berkley Co, WV and 2 of Michael's brothers -- James b abt 1732 and Joseph b abt 1734 went to KY. This information is on pg 115 of Rev Thompson P Ege book "Dodson Genealogy". So, this may be why some of those KY/VA ancestors just won't link with the Richmond VA ancestors. Michael's son Thomas has some descendants that changed the name to Dotson. It was said that he and brothers Charles and John were Rev War soldiers. There is a John Dodson b 5/25/1758 in PA & enlisted in Bucks Co, PA 5/4/1779 at age 29; was 5'8" tall, had a thin visage and pale hair. A John was in 1st co of Capt Beatty 2nd Btn Chester Co Miltia 9/24/1781 under Command of Lt Thomas Bull. According to "Dodson Genealogy 1600-1907" by Thompson Ege: Thomas was a member of the Fifth Regiment of the PA line. Thomas drew a pension of $96 per year from 1/26/1818 until his death 4/10/1825. It is said that Thomas was born in ChesterCo PA but followed their father Michael to Northampton Co in the portion which is now Lehigh Co. Thomas then left and went to what is now Berkley Co WV where he died. There is a Thomas that sold 367 acres on Jeremy's Run in Frederick Co, VA on 3/12/1776 (located between Moody Creek & Jeremy's Run). Property sold to Ephraim Leith. A Thomas married to a Catherine was in Shenandoah Co, VA when their daughter Jemima Dodson married Thomas Parent on 1/5/1789 The Parents and Dodsons lived nearby and the community of people supposedly came from NJ to MD to VA.
