    3. During the Rev. War, individual citizens "donated" goods (voluntarily or not) to the cause. They were given receipts. Most people thought those receipts would be no good and they would never see that money, but Virginia residents were given the opportunity to file these public claims for reimbursement. What follows is a list of Dodson claims that I found. There could be more of course. Also, payment was not necessarily prompt. I have one line where an estate settlement in 1791 was delayed waiting for this payment.
