I also have a copy of the Marriage Bond signed by Lenard Canter and Thomas Walker dated the 29 day of January 1834 stating that marriage is shortly intended between Lenard Canter and Miss Sarah Border. Note: date of Bond is after date of marriage. There always seems to be some discrepancy in dates. The St. Rose registry also shows children of Benedict Leonard Cantor & Sarah A. Borders (Bk 1, p.6) John Henry Cantor, bap. Feb. 18,1840. Spon: Mary Blanford (p.9) Martha R. Cantor, bap. Jan. 12, 1842. Spon: Sarah Spink (p. 30) Florida Ann Cantor, b. Nov. 19, 1844, bap. Dec. 3, 1844: Spon: Loretta Craycroft (p. 66) William Parker Cantor, b. Jan. 22, 1847, bap. Apr. 5, 1847: Spon: Rachel Walker (p. 97) Even though the name is spelled with an "o" Cantor, the other facts and dates seem to agree with our other records. Hope this does not add to your confusion. Re your ggrandmother Martha Dodson, there is a listing in the Marriage Register for Washington County Court, Book #6, 1878-1903, for John M. Nally and Martha M. Dodson at St. Rose 913/1880, Witnesses Burr Fields and Louisa Borders. (If they named first son for both fathers the William could be for William Henry Dodson. What do you think?
