Am a little late for the roll call. But maybe not too late! My husband is descended from Isaiah Dodson who was born in 1809 in TN. His oldest son James Rasbell Carson Dodson was born in 1839, TN before the family moved to Arkansas. My husband's grandfather was James's son David Leander Dodson. Isaiah was married to Elizabeth M. Dickey, daughter of James Ross and Mary "Polly" McCutcheon Dickey. I think but can not prove that Isaiah had a brother named George W. who moved to Green County MO and died there in late 1850s or early 60s. Would really like to connect with someone who could help us get back further than Isaiah. He is our brick wall on our Dodson family. Isaiah died in Newton County, AR in 1866. Donna Dodson AR

I am in desperate need of help with sorting out my Dotson Ancestors. In my family Bible from the late 1800s and early 1900s my g-grandmother wrote that her mother was Emma (or Emmy) Dotson, born June 17th in 1840 or 1850 in Tennessee. She married Joseph C. Cagle (dob Jan 6th 1830 in North Carolina) on December 29th, 1871. They had: Edward F., Laura, George M., Jessie, Dela and Ida Nettie (aka Martha I.) who was my g-grandmother. Now, I have discovered that Joseph Cagle had two other wives before Emma: Mila Holyfield and Esther, aka Easter Dotson. Was she Emma's sister, or possiibly a cousin? I can't figure this out. A member of the Cagle genealogy list has posted this info: 1 Joseph C Cagle 1837 - 1915 .. +Mila C Holyfield 1837 - m: 28 Dec 1856 in Haywood Co., NC *2nd Wife of Joseph C Cagle: .. +Esther Anna Dotson 1844 - aka: Anna m: 13 Apr 1861 in Haywood Co., NC ......... 2 Pinkney M Cagle 1860 - 1920 ............. +Minela Moda Gauf 1863 - m: 12 Jul 1883 in Washington Co., AR ......... 2 William Henry Cagle 1863 - 1945 ............. +Phoebe Leach 1868 - 1924 m: 05 Jul 1890 in Aurora, MO ......... 2 Sarah Cagle 1865 - 1880 aka: Sally ......... 2 Jane Cagle 1867 - 1880 ......... 2 Edward Francis Cagle 1872 - 1932 ............. +Liddy Louise Violet Smith 1869 - aka: Lulu m: 22 May 1891 in West Fork, Washington, AR ......... 2 Laura C Cagle 1875 - ......... 2 Martha I Cagle 1877 - ......... 2 Della L Cagle 1878 - ............. +Harry R Davies m: 19 Jan 1898 in Washington Co., AR ......... 2 Maggie Cagle 1879 - *3rd Wife of Joseph C Cagle: .. +Emaline Minerva Dotson 1851 - m: 28 Dec 1871 Here is what I have been able to find: In the 1870 census we see Joseph Cagle married to Esther with Pinkney (10), Thomas (7), Sally (5) and Jane (3). In the 1880 census we see Joseph (here Cagle is spelled "Kagle") married to Emmy, and they have Henry (13), Edward (8), Laura C. (5) and Martha I. (3). In addition to this, I saw a posting on Ancestry.com that showed a family tree for Easter Dotson, who is possibly my Emma Dotson's sister or other relative, wife of Joseph C. Cagle, with a Daniel Madison Dotson dob 1820 and Elizabeth ? as Easter's parents, but NO mention of Emma. I have tried to contact the authors of this info to find out the source, but to no avail. So I am baffled. Does anyone have any suggestions, ideas or insight into who my Emma/Emmy Dotson is? sincerely, Kim Townsend Spangrude Kim Townsend- Shirley (Cox) Townsend - William McKinley Cox - Ida Nettie (Cagle) Cox - Emma (Dotson) Cagle
