I actually have two dates on his death and not sure which is correct - 11/30/1861 in Edgerton, Platte, MO and the other is 2/18/1840. Unfortunately, I was a little new at genealogy when I wrote down the latter date so don't remember where I got it. My line is from John William Dodson and Margaret Rector. The confusion in John Dodson's death is because of the will being probated on 18 February 1840 and the tombstone in the Mt. Zion cemetery at the edge of Edgerton, Mo. I made a run to the cemetery and viewed the stone. The birth date is 12 July 1791 and the death date 1861. He is buried near D. D. Dodson (David) his son. I have never found where his wife was buried, but many of the Standiford's are buried in this same cemetery. I have a Platte County genealogist working on this, however, I don't expect to get much besides a bill. Keep in touch and maybe we will eventually solve this mystery.
