Dodson of Cumberland and Amelia, VA are the same people that showed up in Gallia, OH. According to land patent records, Dabney Kerr served two terms in the War of 1812: Private substitute for George Hughes, Captain Helen's Company and substitute for Caleb Green in Captain Allen's Company Virginia Militia War of 1812. I haven't conclusively found either George Hughes or Caleb Green in Virginia (to identify a county) or a Captain Helen or Captain Allen (are they the same person with the name misspelled?) in VA. There is a Dabney Kerr who shows up on muster rolls For 1 Reg't (Trueheart's) Virginia Militia and 4 Regiment Virginia Militia. Again, I haven't found enough information on either of these regiments to associate them with either Cumberland or Amelia counties.
