I keep hoping that in this age of social media, someone SOMEWHERE will come forward with a copy of an old family document (Bible, will, family letter) that will help put the pieces together - at least to tie Charles to Jesse - if not back to John. So many generations...so many descendants, but as you both acknowledge, the oral histories are so similar and too much so to be coincidence. Strong probability is there - now if only we could find the truth. Maybe one day! Thanks again. By the way, my father and I both took the ancestry DNA test (for ethnicity) recently and his results (11th generation), showed no signs of native american DNA, mine showed 3% unknown (origins too small to trace- which of course could come from my maternal lineage, since my father did not have same indicators). We both show the strong European/English heritage, and are not surprised that ONE (potential) native american ancestor in 12 gene! rations did not show thru in the results.
