I've been following this thread because my family stories also included that a grandmother, a few great grandmothers in the Dodson line were of Indian heritage, and in another line of mine, there is also Indian heritage. I have assumptions on who these were, but have been unable to prove it yet. Notice I said 'yet', which brings me back to the original subject of this thread....Dodson/Eagle Plume. I have no clue whether John Dodd's married an Indian, but I certainly think it was possible for all the reasons already discussed. I do know that he married a Jane Dier according to the document I previously posted, ship passenger records, and lists of living and dead. I have noticed that many of the posters who were active in this thread are now not posting as much. I have to say I am disappointed that this thread has turned into a thread of 'posturing' by some who seem to somehow express themselves in a 'lordly, higher than thou' fashion. Under our Creator, whoever you choose it to have been, we are all equal period. If you have inner peace, as the American Indians did, there is no need to posture. There is no need to take your toys and go home if the thread is not going the way you want it. So if we can, I'd really like to see if we can work on the Indian heritage to see where it goes. I am tired of reading the attacking posts anytime the name Eagle Plume comes up. As I said, I have no idea...but why the attacks? Aren't we all here to research our lines and to find documentation? There are many time periods and locations where documentation simply no longer exists. Even your professional genealogists will tell you that. We make the best genealogical assumptions then based on what evidence and circumstances we can find. I think we need to get back to work, and share what we know, what we've heard, and the records we do have...and cut out the who is more trained, who has bluer blood, blah..blah...blah. Sorry, but step back and reread. Frankly, a portion of the blood that runs through my veins and my children's is red..and I am proud of that as well as the blue. Can we get back to work?
