"The Colonial National History...study of Virginia Indians and Jamestown:First Century" is extremely interesting, and seems to be well-researched. Lots of history in it. http://www.nps.gov/history/history/online_books/jame1/moretti-langholtz/chap4.htm This next is Hotten's List where the musters are listed. John Dod's and wife, Jane are on this list. http://www.allcensus.com/original_lists_201.htm This next link is to a book that provides a detailed description and history of the 4 original shires of Virginia, and the later formation of shires from the original four. It provides a map with numbered entries as locations for notable plantations, colonists, landmarks, etc. This is at the beginning. On page 258, there is a short bio on Jane Dier, who came over on the ship, Marmaduke. On 261, there is a bio on John Dod and wife, Jane who lived at number 39, at Bermuda Hundred. The map showing this number is at the end of the book on the 'back cover'. John's bio mentions that he had 50 A in Bermuda Hundred, but also 150 A. in Tappahanna. This was land he was entitled to as an 'ancient planter'. Unfortunately, this is a preview and some pages are not there, but the above pages are. It seems that "Where They Were", one of the chapters, is there in its entirety. Virginia Immigrants and Adventurers, 1607-1635 A Biographical Dictionary by Martha W. McCartney http://books.google.com/books?id=orDbMGpInaQC&pg=PA55&lpg=PA55&dq=Neck of Land in the Corporation of Charles City + location&source=bl&ots=WHWb2dr-ZM&sig=mi6var96sxJgicmsrsL2zxfmM9Q&hl=en&sa=X&ei=nzbQT4W-AYXq8wSHirHBAQ&ved=0CF0Q6AEwBg#v=onepage&q&f=true That's a start. I'll post more in another post later. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
