What I have is Charles Dodson, born about 1650 to Ann (no last name). For Jessie Dodson I have his birth as 1621, death August, 1716 in North Farnham Parish, VA. His wife was Judith Haggar. Thomas, B. May 15, 1681, D. abt. 1739. His wife was Mary Durham.
Has anyone looked through the index of the Virginia Company papers. I believe there are several volumes, and from what I remember of using them in a library years ago, they often discussed planters and others already here. If a Dodson was hear that early, I would suggest that they would probably be mentioned there. I do not doubt Charles Dodson whose will was proven 1705. I've had a copy of his will since the mid 1960's. It's this Charles Dodson's parents and ancestors who you list which I call to question. I have all of Lucas' Dodson Books, and purchased them as soon as they were published.....also did my own research over a period of many years...long before the internet. Yes, old Charles Dodson owned land, and was able to leave his sons 150 acres each....his son Thomas is my line. What does that have to do with Charles' parentage? Old Charles bought all of his land...he also had a large peach orchard, and was able to rent some of his land out. We do not even know for-sure which family his wife belonged to....maiden name...lots of speculation out there, tho'. Some say she was his Dodson cousin....but again there is not proof....not even a clue. Many experts have searched Virginia records for many years to try to find Charles's lineage. There are NO CONNECTING documents found so far. Wouldn't you rather know your correct lineage, than to only speculate? Again regards, MaryE
