The name Dodson/Dotson was used in all their families repeatedly, so I am wondering if anyone researching this family name has found a marriage of a Dodson/Dotson woman to a Rowland/Roland/Rollen between 1750-1780? The name has usually been used as a middle name - and often with the first name Jesse - in fact is it uncanny how many Jesse Dodson/Dotsons there are in the lineage. This is just one more stab - but maybe someone will have something that will break through our brick wall. Thanks.

I found a letter of agreement in the personal papers of George Washington where G. Washington's nephew George A. WAshington hired Ignatius Dodson to be an overseer for his plantation called Clifton's Neck. The agreement clearly names Ignatius of Charles County, Maryland.
