Author: trackingancestors Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dodson/2006.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Jeff, I'm interested in what DNA service you used. Ancestry's or another? On my line..I descend from Richard Dotson(Dodson) Sr. born in Frederick Co., Va. in 1752, through his son Richard Jr., granddaughter Melissa Dodson, great grandson Johnathan Calvin Dodson, gg granddaughter Lonia Victoria Dodson Thomas, ggg grandson Kenneth Robert Thomas, my father. DNA testing has linked Richard Dodson Sr. back to Thomas and Mary Prigg Dodson (circa 1785) through their documented son, Richard Dodson born 1731. The match is 100%. We are still looking for which son or male of the Dodsons who descended from Thomas and Mary who is my Richard's actual father. We've tracked Michael, Anna, and Joseph Dodson (Richard's, born 1731, alleged siblings, and children of Thomas and Mary) to Frederick Co., Md. In the 1790s, descendants of this line migrated to Fayette County, Pa. and to Bedford County, Pa. We have a lot of documentation on this, but not as much as we'd like. But, this is where it gets confusing too. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My P-ggrandfather was Thomas Emory Dodson. He had a number of children and most lived to adulthood. My grandfather was David Louis and he was married to Catherine Alma Clark. They had Mary Louise and Robert David. Mary Louise had Alma and Mary Elizabeth. Robert had ME (David Jeffrey) Robert Charles and Eleanor Ann. Many of my grandfathers brothers and sisters remained in the East Freedom area. Their children moved around but some stayed in the area. My father's first cousins have mostly passed on by now. He died at age 83 born 1922. Hope this helps. Let me know the other Dodsons you have from the area. That's as far back as I have definite documentation for, and the progenitor Thomas Dodson and Mary Prigg Dodson (Thomas born 1685 and Mary 1698). Several of their children appear to have migrated from Chester to Frederick Co., Md., and tracked to then Bedford County, Pa., as did some of the descendants. (Cumberland Co., Pa. was the parent county for Bedford). Bedford was parent county for several counties, Blair eventually being one of them. I've been told (not verified) that there were possibly three Dodson lines in Blair County. I would definitely be interested in hearing what you have on your line. I am also willing to share what I have. Linda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
