Am a little late for the roll call. But maybe not too late! My husband is descended from Isaiah Dodson who was born in 1809 in TN. His oldest son James Rasbell Carson Dodson was born in 1839, TN before the family moved to Arkansas. My husband's grandfather was James's son David Leander Dodson. Isaiah was married to Elizabeth M. Dickey, daughter of James Ross and Mary "Polly" McCutcheon Dickey. I think but can not prove that Isaiah had a brother named George W. who moved to Green County MO and died there in late 1850s or early 60s. This is from the Records of the Virginia Company, held in London. I went through volumes 1 and 2, but not 3 and 4. If anyone is ever at a library that has these, look through the index and see if we have any Dodsons. This could be extremely important given the speculation surrounding the early Dodson men and Jamestown. Here's the 1 entry I found: Robert Dodson deposition - having been twice in Va I do affirm all the answers within written for all matters from James City downward saying, yet I do not know of ye proclamations for ?. Robert Dodson The ? above means that I can't read my own note. I doubt the word is important. What is important is that Robert Dodson in London was involved with the Virginia Company in Jamestown. My line is from John William Dodson and Margaret Rector. The confusion in John Dodson's death is because of the will being probated on 18 February 1840 and the tombstone in the Mt. Zion cemetery at the edge of Edgerton, Mo. I made a run to the cemetery and viewed the stone. The birth date is 12 July 1791 and the death date 1861. He is buried near D. D. Dodson (David) his son. I have never found where his wife was buried, but many of the Standiford's are buried in this same cemetery. I have a Platte County genealogist working on this, however, I don't expect to get much besides a bill. Keep in touch and maybe we will eventually solve this mystery. Has anyone ever found a photo of this Rev George Dodson's tombstone. The cemetery is isolated on a hill on private property. I tried to locate it once but did not have time to access the property owner's permssion to go there. I did once speak to someone who had been there and said the stone was located in very poor condition. The cemetery is now in a wooded area on a hilltop. Hi All When I posted my generations sorta forgot about my Uncle Russel Dodson, Uncle Russel had a problem with being faithfull to his wife Aunt Pauline. Any way Uncle Russel had a total of . Donald, Larry by Aunt Pauline. My brick wall is Nelson DODSON, born about 1810 in Ohio. In the 1850 census for Nottingham Twsp., New Jersey, he said he was 40 years old and born in Ohio. This is all I know about his origins.
