Hi Kim, it came through and your earlier ones did too. I had try to do some looking when your first one came and found that Easter had married Joseph Cagle but before I got a note written you had sent another e-mail with that information. I haven't found anything you didn't already seem to know. I appreciate all the help in trying to find Isaiah Dodson. The Isaiah I am looking for was born in 1809 not 1804. He died in 1866 in Newton County, AR, after being shot in the jaw by bushwhackers. We believe he came from the Giles Co. TN area. His name is listed on the church roll for the Robertsons Fork church of christ in 1836 as removed. Also on a deed in Giles Co. in late 1830s with a George Dodson who were selling land for a Sarah Dodson to a Mr. Thorpe. Thanks again for taking the time to try to help. But maybe not too late! My husband is descended from Isaiah Dodson who was born in 1809 in TN. His oldest son James Rasbell Carson Dodson was born in 1839, TN before the family moved to Arkansas. My husband's grandfather was James's son David Leander Dodson. Isaiah was married to Elizabeth M. Dickey, daughter of James Ross and Mary "Polly" McCutcheon Dickey. I think but can not prove that Isaiah had a brother named George W. who moved to Green County MO and died there in late 1850s or early 60s. It's amazing how these families link together. Tonight I was reading something about the Dodson family from Pittsylvania County, Virginia, which isn't really my direct line but was interesting just the same, and lo and behold, I find a reference to one of my other difficult lines. Now, I need the Dodson info desperately so I can find Lemuel Moore. The info said: William Dodson - Halifax County documents say this William died with estates in both Franklin Co., Tn. and Cumberland Co., Ky. Samuel Dodson was the administrator for the Tn. estate. Other names mentioned were Alexander Hittson and Lemuel Moore. Jesse Dodson was admin for the Ky. estate. Others mentioned are Thomas Dodson, Stokely Slayden and John Atkinson. Among the items in the estate were medical instruments and compounds. This could be Rev. William, son of Thomas Jr. There are no dates which are incredibly frustrating. Does anyone have a copy of this will and estate info? Does anyone know how Lemuel Moore is connected to this man? The Moores were neighbors of the Dodsons in Halifax Co. and there was a property transaction between them in the late 1700s I believe. Thank you for any help with this. Bobbi Estes
Janice, I have a Lucinda Lollar Dodson in my heritage..........I would love the info on the tombstone. What county in AR? Sandy Dodson Tomlin

I am in desperate need of help with sorting out my Dotson Ancestors. In my family Bible from the late 1800s and early 1900s my g-grandmother wrote that her mother was Emma (or Emmy) Dotson, born June 17th in 1840 or 1850 in Tennessee. She married Joseph C. Cagle (dob Jan 6th 1830 in North Carolina) on December 29th, 1871. They had: Edward F., Laura, George M., Jessie, Dela and Ida Nettie (aka Martha I.) who was my g-grandmother. Now, I have discovered that Joseph Cagle had two other wives before Emma: Mila Holyfield and Esther, aka Easter Dotson. Was she Emma's sister, or possiibly a cousin? I can't figure this out. Thank you, Don. I thought information like this existed but didn't know if I could find it online. Then I remembered the census online links and for Tennessee 1810 they show -0- counties on line. It looks like from this information that basically anything in Tennessee prior to 1830 you are just out of luck. I was just trying to help Donna in response to her entry on roll call. I haven't really done any research. I thought one possibility would be to find out which Dodson families in Tennessee had a young male and possibly find something that would help in getting through her brick wall. Donna, In the book "The Dodson (Dotson) Family of North Franham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia" Volume Two - by Williams and Lucas: Page 1254 White County TN Census 1850 ISAIAH DODSON 40 M Isabella 37 F Sarah S. 19 F Mary 15 F James R 12 M Silus 10 M Isaiah 6 M Julia 4 F Rachell 2 F There was also a 3 page letter on p 1288-1290 that mentioned an Isaiah Dodson but I have no idea if it is the same Isaiah. This was a letter from a George Washington Dodson to his nephew John D Taylor of Summerville, GA written in 1915. On page 148 there was an Isaiah Dodson born 9 June 1804 and died 12 Jan 1884 in Alabama. (line Charles, to Thomas, to Joshua, to Isaiah) Hope some of this will help you.
