I am also a descendant of Thomas, Jr. and Elizabeth Rose twice. Through their granddaughter Frances who married their grandson Thomas. I then descend through Martin who married Nancy Ann _____ and his daughter Susan J. who married Jesse H. Fitzgerald. I am working on a DAR supplemental on both Thomas, Jr. and Thomas, Sr. If you or anyone has good sources for any of this line would really appreciate hearing from you. Too, will be glad to share my info. Just joined the Dodson list about a week ago and have been amazed in the good info so far. Merry Christmas Liz Pierce

    3. Karen, I am descended through Thomas Dodson, Jr and Elizabeth Rose (twice). They did not have a son name Abraham. Thomas, Jr. left a will (dated 12 Aug 1779) naming children - sons: Thomas, George, William, Jesse and daughters: Sarah, Elizabeth, Else, and Rhody. Your Abraham is the 8th of 10 children of Thomas, Sr. and Mary Durham (Joshua and Jesse being the final two). It is possible for Mary to have children at age 37. My uncle and aunt's oldest child is 29 and the youngest is 4. The oldest has three children older than her own brother. Talk about confusing generations. As for Gov. Richard Hunt, I have him married to Frances Grimsditch on 28 Mar 1643 in the St, Margaret's Church in Lee, Kent, England. I also have three different birthdates for Judith Hunt ranging from about 1636 to 1646. Richard Hunt is supposed the son of Thomas Hunt born 16 Jun 1577 in Mereworth, Kent, England. For Judith Hunt's husband Henry Durham, I found him born about 1634 in Port Royal, Caroline, VA and 1640 in England. Plus I have a deathplace as Farnham, (old) Rappahannock, VA after 1690. His parents are from Pittingham, Durham, England. Hopefully someone can find accurate dates. Until then, I just take what I get with a grain of salt. Hope the first part helped with you Abraham question. Kim

    3. Thanks to Glenn Gohr who posted his information on Judith Hunt who was Thomas Dodson's Great Mother in law(IF there is such a thing ;-).... I posed this question to him (and to Steve SMOOT who has the wonderful Smoot lineage in the Family treemaker site) as I do to the Discussion line. I have the same lineage on the Judith Hunt line that Glenn has with one exception and now I am wondering if I got some information in error...... Check this out..... 1st generation) Gov. Richard Hunt (arrived in Bermuda in 1647), b. ca. 1620 Bromley, Kent, d. aft. 20 Feb. 1687, Southampton Tribe, Bermuda; md. Sarah ______, b. ca. 1620 Bromley, Kent, d. Bermuda 2nd Generation) Judith Hunt, b. ca. 1640 Bromley, Kent, d. prob. in Bermuda; md. 14 Feb. 1660 Bermuda to Henry Durham, b. ca. 1640 ?, d. prob. in Bermuda 3rd generation) Thomas Durham, b. ca. 1661 Bermuda, d. 1715 Richmond Co., VA; md. ca. 1680 Richmond Co., VA to Dorothy Smoot? or Gilbert?, b. ca. 1660,d. aft. 1715 Richmond Co., VA 4th generation) Mary Durham, b. 5 June 1686 Richmond Co., VA, d. aft. 1740 Richmond Co., VA; md. ca. 1701 Richmond Co., VA to Thomas Dodson, b. 15 May 1681 Rappahannock Co., VA, d. 21 Nov. 1740 Richmond Co., VA THEN...here is where I have a 5th Generation.. Abraham Dodson b 4 April 1723 in RIchmond County Va. m. Barbary Russell b. 9 November 1727/28 in North Farnham, Va. died after 1780 in Farquier County Va. I WONDER IF....... I am missing a Generation in between .......Can anyone confirm this? Look at the dates for Abraham's Mother.....supposedly Mary Durham is his mother and though it is certainly possible for a woman of 37 years of age to have a child (as they often did), I wonder if Mary Durham Dodson/Thomas Dodson Sr. are Abraham's parents or are they his grandparents! There is another Thomas Dodson generation..... Rev Thomas Dodson Jr. who married Elizabeth Rose who also died in Farquier County Va. Was the <great> Reverend Thomas Dodson (who married Elizabeth Rose) Abraham's brother......or was he his father???? ( the dates could render either answer!) A will might indicate the answer if anyone has that information. Glenn Gohr's information on the Thomas Dodson/Elizabeth Rose union is as follows...... 5) Rev. Thomas Dodson, b. ca. 1709 Richmond Co., VA, d. bef. 21 Oct. 1783 Pittsylvania Co., VA; md. 3 April 1726 Richmond Co., VA to Elizabeth Rose, b. ca. 1706 VA, d. aft. 1766 Fauquier Co., VA Though Glenn does not list Abraham in his lineage, I was hoping that others with a closer connection to mine might help. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I would appreciate the input. Thanks so much in advance, Karen Doyle
