Greetings Cousins!! I am descended from the Rev. Thomas Dodson and Elizabeth Rose (I think). I am missing a piece of the puzzle between John and Elizabeth Dodson Bennett and Samuel and Rebecca Ann Bennett Wyatt. Did John and Elizabeth have a son named John who married Rachel Arendell (?) and is he the father of Rebecca Ann (or Ann Rebecca, as I have also noted in places). I have just started on this line, so all of my information is very sketchy. Can anyone help? First time! Hoping I have posted correctly! Rev.William "Oscar" DODSON b Feb 1883 TX (maybe in or near Collin Co,Blue Ridge TX) first married Lottie FIELDER. Children of this union include, Oralee, Marcus, Ollis Wayman, Emri, Marteen. Ollis Wayman b in 1906 in Blue Ridge TX. Rev. DODSON divorced Lottie and he took the kids. Rev. DODSON was 3/4 cherokee, although we do not know if this is documented with the tribe. Lottie FIELDER is also said to have been of cherokee decent. (Viola WHEELER,story goes the 2nd wife, Full cherokee, born on reservation near Guthrie OK, she died in 1931. Kids of this union include, OWayne, JP, Bobby). In OK he was a circuit preacher and he is buried at Mt Hope Cemetary, near Guthrie OK. Rev DODSON's last wife was Cordie Bell McCannaly (sp) they lived and died in Guthrie, he died in 1964. Rev. DODSON had at least one sibling, Walter,"WT" DODSON. He was married to Cora in the 1940's-50's and at some point in their marriage they were in Perry OK. I don't know of kids from this union. It is said that the roots from TX came from TN. Please email LJM7938@aol.com thanks Lynne

Hi folks, Thought I would test the waters one more time on this--at the risk of being flamed. I have spent a lot of time looking at the GOAD homepage and it seems to me there were an awful lot of DODSONs marrying GOADs--more so than what coincidence could account for. And it seemed to go on for almost 150 years from what I can gather. I have a Thomas DODSON, born 6 Feb 1912 in Kentucky, died 31 Jul 1892 who married a Catherine Elizabeth GOAD from Tennessee born 12 Dec 1825, died 5 Jun 1898. They had a daughter, Julia Ann DODSON, born 20 Aug 1847 in Kentucky. This Julia was the grandmother of former California senator Chester "Chet" HOLIFIELD. My Thomas DODSON is descended thusly: 1-George DODSON sp: Margaret Dagood 2-David DODSON sp: Elizabeth 3-Asa DODSON, b. 28 May 1780, d. 20 Aug 1855 sp: Nancy WOLVERTON 4-Thomas DODSON sp: Catherine Elizabeth GOAD Can anyone tie this DODSON/GOAD line into the major lines listed on the GOAD homepage? We just gotta be related to those GOADs somehow--the surnames and the locale all match up. Anyway, I've said my piece. Looking to determine if Reuben DODSON who married Agnes Whitlock on 10 Feb 1780 in Surry County NC is the father of John DODSON b. about 1788 in NC who married Nancy Casey. Has anyone ever ran across Noah DODSON (b 1793-aft 1860)? He was a resident in White Co, TN as far as any census records go. He married Nancy MILLER (dau of Thomas H. Miller Sr and Mary DODSON) He says in census records he was born in VA and I've never been able to trace where. No proof connecting him to four other distinct DODSON lines in White County, TN. Some of my information on Noah was submitted to Lucas for the DODSON book; however, I didn't send it in.. I'd like to hear from anyone with info. Mickey DODSON

The date is definitely February 26, 1816 and not 1810 as some sources apparently indicate. The last digit is a bit faint, but it falls between an entry for February 8, 1816, and March 14, 1816. In fact all the marriages on this page are 1816 and were apparently recorded in chronological order. This means Enoch could have been the one from Wayne County (Kentucky) who was married to Barsheba. Does anyone have any info on the James Nevill who married Marion (Maryan) Dodson on 20 Sep 1810 in Wayne County, Kentucky? This marriage record lists "Surety, Enoch Neville." -- Ryan D. Cousins, Please keep in mind that there were 2 Hightower Dodsons: the first a son of Greenham and Elinor [Hightower] Dodson; the other a nephew of the first - and son of Thomas (Greenham?) and Sarah "Sallie" [Dodson] Dodson. The son of Greenham was born circa 1751 and did not live to be 126 years old. The younger Hightower born c1788, married (1) Sallie Dodson on 4 July 1807 in Williamson Co., TN, and (2) Sarah 'Sallie" Hanks. The second marriage being 25 June 1832 in Maury Co., TN, it is safe to assume that wife #1, Sallie Dodson Dodson died before that date. My connection to Hightower is through his daughter, Deniah H. Dodson, born 30 April 1809 in Maury Co., TN. She married Whitmell Leigh in Maury 11 June 1831. Hightower sold land to Whitmell in June 1833 and before moving to Fayette County, IL, Whitmell and Deniah sold the land to her brothers Beverly P. Dodson and Raleigh W. Dodson. Whitmell and Deniah's first child was James Hightower Leigh. The elder Hightower Dodson does not appear in Tennessee. He seems to have gone to SC via Nash Co, and Montgomery Co., NC. The 1790 Census suggests possibly at least one son and perhaps seven or more daughters. The younger Hightower and Sallie Dodson Dodson, also had more children that we can identify at this time. Any help finding the others will be greatly appreciated. A Halifax Co VA marriage record reads as follows: 3oct1794. David Lawson and Winney Dottson. Sur. Hosea Hampton. Wit. Thomas Ward. Winney signs her own consent. Married 12 Oct by Rev. Thomas Dobson who says Winney Dobson. A book called "Blue Ridge Mountain Kinfolk" chronicles the Lawson family starting with this couple. The family moved from Halifax Co sometime before the 1810 census of Stokes Co NC. One researcher has said that my Winney may be a dau of Thomas "Second Fork" Dodson. Can anyone help me connect her?? If so cuold that have beem her grandfather that married her to David Lawson, and why did she have to sign her own consent??? Thanks, Brian Rodman Birmingham, AL
Thank you all for your responses to my inquiry regarding the identity of the submitter of the WFT tree on Volume 15. I now know the name of that person. The submitter did not have my permission to present my work to Broderbund, nor did Broderbund have the right to publish it. Because of this, Broderbund has a two-fold legal problem: Copyright infringement and privacy act violation. I discovered yesterday that Broderbund published my copyrighted research without my permission. The gathering of my family data has been the result of my effort. I have volumes of receipts, letters, and other data to show that this is my research. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on travel, rare books, archived data, and other source material, and the submitter was evidently rewarded with a token $10 coupon for my efforts. Second problem: There are numerous surviving individuals shown on the CD who did not give permission to have their names and relationships published throughout the world. Ken
