I just joined this list and have enjoyed reading all your postings. You all seem to be a friendly bunch. I have only two census records for my Dodson ancestor. Was hoping someone out there might recognize these: 1870/Coryelle County, Texas: Dodson, George age 21(?) born Kentucky Martha 21 Louisiana Amanda 7months Texas Dodson, Ben 29 Missouri Isabella 20 Texas Rachel 1 Texas Dodson, George 22 Alabama Fanny 19 Missouri Chambers, James 30 Louisiana Mary (maiden name Dodson) 30 Missouri These families were all enumerated together. In 1880 Census James Chambers and his wife Mary Dodson were alone in Brown County, Texas. James is listed as full blood Indian and Mary as "White". The family story is of James and Mary being murdered for their land shortly after 1880. Susan

Cousins and friends, I enjoy a good laugh with everyone else, and yes we all need the ability to laugh at ourselves. But let us all please think a little more of others. Are we absolutely sure that these jokes do not hurt someone out on these lists? I am not the thought police, and I am not angry, so please no flaming returns. Let us get back to genealogy. Thank you. Can anyone give me information on the DODSON book by Lucas? Would like the Title, author's full name, date of publication etc. so I can order it through interlibrary loan. Thank-you, Gerie Dodson-Smith
Gene, I can afford to make wisecarcks about the intertwining of the Dodson family with itself. My wife's maiden name was Dodson, and so was her mother's, and her father's name was Dodson, too. Regards, Jim Willis

Sorry I should clarify some My ggrandfathers were brothers who married sisters and then thier children married. I'm sure someone broke some laws somewhere!
Don't be to sure they weren't the same woman. I have a George Dotson m. Matilda Estep who a few years later married his cousin, George Dotson. She also had children by both men. I still have not figured it out. Sandi Dotson Eblin
