Hi My father is researching our family history in the UK. He is originally from London and has found many of his links in Essex. I don't have any details, but I can pass your message on to him and see if he can tie up any names and locations.( I know the names Charles and William feature quite a few times over the decades and must have been a very popular family name!) Hi all, Just a thought.... I think when posting to rootsweb that if each of us would specify which state our ancestors were from instead of just names and dates it would be helpful. I know I would be benefitted because I have so little information from only a few states. I wouldn't have to wade through all the postings then. Thank you, Diane

Just heard about a new web site that deals with History and Genealogy of the Cumberland River Valley of southeastern Kentucky. Counties covered include: Bell, Knox, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Wayne, and Whitley Counties. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6808/ Here is the Pulaski County page that interests me. Pulaski County, KY: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Valley/6808/pulaskico.html I noticed on the Pulaski County Page a reference to where William Dodson donated land for the town square in Somerset, KY & also for the Sinking Creek Baptist Church that he belonged to: "On February 24, 1801, William Dodson, Reubin Hill and Moses Hands made bond for $1,000 to justices for Dodson, conveying the 40 acres of land to the court on or before March 1, 1812. Dodson made bond to convey all this land except one acre on which the Sinking Creek Baptist Church stood and three lots which he retained for himself." Actually this should be Moses HANKS. He is my direct ancestor and married Aggatha Dodson. He was closely related to William Dodson and Reubin Hill. (More on this is given. Much of the info. comes from an article in the Somerset (KY) newspaper as cited on the web page. Reference to this is also found in the 2-vol. book on the Dodson family by Rev. S. E. Lucas.) Also there are numerous links to other pages regarding history and genealogy in this area and also some related sites of interest. This page could keep you busy for hours with all the things you can look up! There is also a link to: Gorin Genealogical Publishing Page: http://members.tripod.com/~GorinS/index.html Sandi Gorin, the owner, has hundreds of books for sale with info. on southeastern Kentucky and some other counties in KY and also several surnames of interest. Have not posted in awhile, hope that someone can help me, have been looking for this line for a long, long time. V.Y. Savage born in 1876, not known where died in 1938 in Kiowa, Oklahoma married Mary Ellen Everett Gandy in 1905 in Texas The only information that we have on V.Y. Savage's parents is that his mother was either Molly or Dorcus Dodson and the father's last name was Savage and is first name may have been George. There are several stories about his birthright, but the one thing that we do know is that he was illegitmate. I am trying to find out info on his mother, who was either Molly or Dorcus Dodson. Her father may have been Warren Dodson but know proof of that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rose rmsavage@swbell.net
