    3. Hi Brenda, I show this William DODSON of yours, son of Rev Thomas DODSON Junior and wife Elizabeth ROSE in my database. He is also listed as being a Reverend, born Abt 1738 in North Carolina and died 6 Mar 1832 in Iredell County, North Carolina. I have him listed with two different wives; Winnifred JOHNSTON, married 30 June 1762, and Tabitha HENDRICK, married 19 July 1794. My database takes his line back five more generations in the DODSON line to where everybody argues. I have no children listed for him. Take care, Robert Brenda Salyers wrote: > > Does anyone know any more about my ancestor William Dodson, born about > 1738, son of Thomas Jr. and Elizabeth Rose Dodson? 1. DODSON's of North Farnham
    2. Since I got such a good response to my website at http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/5273/rappa.htm I thought I might ask a couple of questions to the Dodson researchers. I have several lines of Dodson's of North Farnham and the area that I know connect. Jesse Dodson b. ca 1623 in England wife Judith Hagger with one son Charles b. ca 1649 with wife Anne. I then have 9 children one of which John married Elizabeth Goad and another William married Hannah Goad who later married Tobias Phillips (my line) Then For tunatus Dodson b. abt 1704 (no father in my database) married Alice Goad in 1726 in Richmond Co., Va. I have 6 children one Alice married Thomas Dale another Anne b. 1732 married first Moses Cornelius and then George Phillips (my line) William Dodson b. abt 1680 (no father in my database) wife Elizabeth Dale dau. of Reuben Dale and Elizabeth Simmonds two children listed. Then George Dodson b. 1702 in Richmond Co., (no father in my database) who married Margaret Dagord. I have 8 children one Rawleigh b. 1729 with 5 children. I could not connect this Dodson to any others. I am desperate to connect these loose ends. I have a comprehensive Phillips and Dale database but so many loose ends on Dodsons. Anyone willing to exchange GEDCOM files or just print out reports then I would be forever grateful. Thanks, Joe Payne

    3. Georgia... Saw you had a Columbus DODSON of your own and wondered if there might be some relation. My Columbus F. DODSON b. 07 Sept 1884 was the son of James Bell DODSON b. abt 1856 and Margaret Jane BLUE b. 16 March 1856. Some of (don't know if I have all of them or not) siblings were: Luther DODSON Wiley DODSON Mary Pearly DODSON (another coincidence?) Willie DODSON Probably no connections, but odd we each had a Columbus and a Pearl (of sorts). 3. For those of you who might be interested, I've found there is an error in the information shown on pages 1090 and 1091 of the Dodson/Dotson book by Williams & Lucas which was submitted by Virginia Plumridge for William Dodson of Howard Co., MO. The children, etc., listed on page 1091 actually belong to the William (b. ca 1795) shown as "F" on page 1090. Somehow, she put the grandfather's name and birthdate (6 Mar 1758) with the children of his son! (She died several years ago, so we can't get any information from her.) Also, the Cynthia Polston shown as a submitter on page 1090 is one of my cousins, and now has a different name, living in a different town -- things change!! If anyone needs information about this group of descendants of "old William," (b. 1758) please contact me, and I'll try to help. I'm still hoping to find more information about his parents and/or siblings -- Joyce -- joywalk@oz.sunflower.org

    1. PA Dodsons that went to KY and (W)VA
    2. Betty Dotson Renick
    3. Many of you probably know that some of the PA branch of the Dodsons migrated into (W)VA and KY around the time of the Rev War. Listed below is an outline of part of that branch. Michael had two sons that went to (now) Berkley Co, WV and 2 of Michael's brothers -- James b abt 1732 and Joseph b abt 1734 went to KY. This information is on pg 115 of Rev Thompson P Ege book "Dodson Genealogy". So, this may be why some of those KY/VA ancestors just won't link with the Richmond VA ancestors. Michael's son Thomas has some descendants that changed the name to Dotson. There is a John Dodson b 5/25/1758 in PA & enlisted in Bucks Co, PA 5/4/1779 at age 29; was 5'8" tall, had a thin visage and pale hair. A John was in 1st co of Capt Beatty 2nd Btn Chester Co Miltia 9/24/1781 under Command of Lt Thomas Bull. According to "Dodson Genealogy 1600-1907" by Thompson Ege: Thomas was a member of the Fifth Regiment of the PA line. Thomas drew a pension of $96 per year from 1/26/1818 until his death 4/10/1825. It is said that Thomas was born in ChesterCo PA but followed their father Michael to Northampton Co in the portion which is now Lehigh Co. Thomas then left and went to what is now Berkley Co WV where he died. There is a Thomas that sold 367 acres on Jeremy's Run in Frederick Co, VA on 3/12/1776 (located between Moody Creek & Jeremy's Run). Property sold to Ephraim Leith. A Thomas married to a Catherine was in Shenandoah Co, VA when their daughter Jemima Dodson married Thomas Parent on 1/5/1789 The Parents and Dodsons lived nearby and the community of people supposedly came from NJ to MD to VA. 3. I have 3 Hiram DODSON's in my database. These would have been near the White County, TN area. (No. 1) Hiram DODSON (b ca 1800 TN), wife Mary (b 1803 TN), children: Sarah R (b 1828), Elizabeth (b 1839), John H. (b 1835), Mary (b 1841), and Nancy (b 1846). (No. 2) Hiram DODSON Sr (1834- Mar 1911), wife Mary Jane GRIFFIN (1834-1900), children: Sarah E. (b 1855), Jesse (1857), Judah C. (1858), Eliza J. (1859), Hiram Jr (1864), John (1866), and Micajah (1869). Hiram DODSON Sr, was the son of Jesse DODSON (1805 - ??) and Sarah (1812 -??) Hiram is too odd to not be connected somehow... Mickey

My great-grandfather was Charles Columbus Dodson, my paternal grandmother was his daughter, Minnie Pearl (married first to George Hampton Ward), and my father was William Oland Ward. The only documentation I have is a "handwritten" list of names written supposedly by the wife of Old William... Do you have relatives in Howard County? 2. My mother's maiden name was DODSON. She was from Clark County (specifically a little town called Caddo Valley, Arkansas. I have just getting started researching my family and am concentrating on my last name. While I do not have much I do know that 3 or maybe 4 generations are buried in the Cemetery at the Caddo Valley Baptist Church in Caddo Valley Arkansas (on Highway 67). If any of this is of interest to anyone, I can gather more detailed information.

    3. Does anyone on the list have volume 12 or 13 of Family Tree Maker? There are two referances to Benjamin Franklin Dodson. One in Missouri and one in Kansas. Sure could use some help with this lost family Thanks Judy
