Hi Sandy: Glad you jumped in with the challenge. I have been working on my Dodson's for over 30 years (mainly via snail mail) and have learned very little except we are supposed to be descended thru Lambeth (which I have doubted as the name has never been used to my knowledge.) Wille be glad to post the info that I have to see if it might correspond with anything thing that you might have. His family appears to be outlined on pg. 1119 of the Williams/Lucas book. He is shown as the son of John Dotson b 1788 VA m. Nancy Casey. John was son of Charlie Dotson b ca 1770 in VA who married a Pickens. Ancestry prior to Charlie is not shown. (pp 1093+ covers descendants of Charlie) The book says Charlie had a brother named Hightower Dotson. "That may offer a clue as to where this family fits into the scheme of things."
Sorry to say , but i have nothing other than a Name and who she married. I know that it had to be the mid 1700 because one of there sons was born April 20 1788. The name is Nellie Dodson, she married John Issac Saunders. They had one son that i know of , and maybe more: George Nathan SAUNDERS b. 20 April, 1788 in Hawkins Co. Tenn. He married Mary Grantham on 7 April, 1805. George died in Una, Clay County, Ms in Jan of 1887. I have info on to the present but nothing back futher than Nellie Dodson. Any help- would be Greatful. Thanks in Advance Barbara Barbslv@aol.com
Hello Everyone' My name is Sandi Dotson eblin and I just got myself in hot water by challenging the members of the DOTSON list to start being more active and posting more to the list. We all have in our possession some information on this huge family that seems to have grown from the same set of roots...If you have birth, death, marriage, pension or any other records please post them to both lists. Your Dodson may have been the ancestor of my Dotson. We need to share everything we can to try and fill in the gaps At the bottom of this is the link to the Early English marriage records, just in case you might be interested in someone besides a Dodson, though I don't see how that is possible Hope to hear from you soon Sandi Dotson Eblin ( who was a Dodson back there with old Lambeth Dodson) http://www.enol.com/~infobase/gen/parish/
I went to the site that Sandi <Mawmaw5349@aol.com> suggested. It is good. Here are the Dodson listings shown: This is taken from the site: http://www.enol.com/~infobase/gen/parish/midsex_d.txt This is from the "D" section of the marriages. There is also a zip file that lists the whole alphabet in one which might help locate any brides named Dodson. This "D" section is part of a larger database: http://www.enol.com/~infobase/gen/parish/ which contains Middlesex England Parish Records (marriages from 1563-1895). The longer I looked at the list the more I believed that the place listed is where they were from NOT where they enlisted. Why would they have someone who enlisted in NC listed in the Maryland records? I remember when we lived in NM and our son enlisted in the Navy, he had to put down a place of home record. Even though he enlisted in Texas they had his place of home record as NM. So since I have totally confused everyone (except those who knew all along that I was a birdbrain and had it wrong) I apologize and hope to set the record straight. Hello Alley, Thanks for the infor you have just posted to the list. As you can see I am a UK Dodson, and I have also order this set of CD's here in England but our delivery is a bit slow.
