Betty, I have been looking for the parents of William DOTSON for a long time. I have been watching the group and I haven't found anything that attached him to a family only his wife. I dont have anything on James but from bits and pieces on the web I have a little more on the sisters and brothers of him. She married Simon Dotson March 29, 1794 in Patrick Co. Va. Thomas B. Hollingsworth was born 1746 and died 1835. Cecelia Emeline Plummer was born Jan. 6, 1821 in Ashe Co. NC and died March 19, 1888 in Bold Camp, Wise Co. Va. Her parents were William Plummer, b. 1794 in Maryland, and mother was Rebecca Jones Plummer, born 1804 in Grayson Co. Va. The two vol books on Dodson/Dotson by Williams/Lucas seem to be saying that (if I remember right, I don't have my few xerox pages from the books) my William, b 1805, was son of Samuel II, son of Samuel, I, who lived (I think) in White Co TN was about age 100 in the 1830 census. My William also had bro named Samuel. We have a line of DODSONs in Fairfax County VA who have been here at least since 1832! Not all of the DODSONs went to TN!
