I think I can send file as GEDCOM. So for those who can't open, if you want a GEDCOM copy, I believe I can send in that form. (Hope there aren't too many more Dodson/Dotsons hiding out there in the woods). 2 requests -- if you want a copy, please type your E-mail address in the body of the request so I don't have to go into "properties" and ferret out the address, and please let me know if you want the GEDCOM or the file attachment. I am sharing the information willingly because I know how elusive our ancestors were. Best regards to all -- sorry about the calloused thumbs! Betty
My Dodson connection is John Dodson married to Mary Eleanor Evans in Chester Co., PA Jan 1745. In her mother Ann's will another daughter Ann married to Michael Dotson is mentioned. Both Ann and Elenor are named as married to Dotsons. Will dated Feb 27, 1768 proved May 26 1773. In the father's will, (John Evan alias Jenkin of Vincent, Chester Co.,PA) he mentions his daughter ,Eleanor wife of John Doddson, and Ann, wife of Michael Doddson living in MD. His will is dated July 16.1760 proved Aug 25, 1760. If this is the same Michael married to Ann Evans as mentioned in note from Nov 11, Michael could not have been born in 1750. I have Thomas Dodson and Mary Prigg as the parents of John and Michael as well as Ann, Hannah, William, Richard, Thomas, James, Mary Joseph, Samuel, and Esther. John and Eleanor settled in Luzerne Co., PA where they died. Judy Biebesheimer JDTD50b@prodigy.com

I'm hoping to determine if Hightower (1750-1823), son of Greenham and Eleanor Hightowner Dodson, did in fact have a son Charles about 1770 in VA who maried a Pickens woman and was killed by a mad woman with an axe as the Lucas books states. Can you help? Gerie Dodson-Smith

For those who hate deleting all messages when they come in, switch to the Dodson Digest. I get the messge in a bunch. Its so much nicer than individually. The line of Dotson's I have researched go from early VA to Arkansas present day through the marriage of Sallie Dotson to James Neal. Would be glad to share. Mary E. Dougherty Tempe AZ medough@aol.com email me direct if you want.
Betty, I too would like your file. TIA, Diane in PA.
Gee Betty Iam beginning to feel left out. I may not need this file but guess I better check. Besides I have rather enjoyed seeing all the Dodsons out there who we don't know. thanks, C Porter porter@ridgecrest.ca.us

Betty, Thank you for sending me the Dodson FTW file. I have the following comments. I believe that Unity Dodson married a different Hightower Dodson, namely Hightower Dodson, born Feb. 25, 1781, son of David Dodson. His d/b agrees better with their d/m (1804). I have combined Thomas and Greenham, sons of Greenham and Eleanor (Hightower) Dodson, as Thomas Greenham Dodson, with the following children: 1 Greenham Dodson 1709 - 1777 . +Eleanor Hightower 1721/22 - 2 Judith Dodson 1740/41 - 2 Thomas Greenham Dodson 1742 - 1809 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< .. +Sarah "Sally" Dodson 1760 - 1835 . 3 Elisha Dodson 1780 - 1850 .... +Ann ? . 3 Greenham Dodson 1783 - 1866 .... +Marcy Brooks 1793 - 1874 . 3 Willis Dodson, Sr. 1784 - . 3 Hightower Dodson 1788 - 1876 .... +Sarah "Sallie" Dodson 1793 - 1831 . *2nd Wife of Hightower Dodson: .... +Sarah "Sallie" Hanks 1790 - . 3 Sarah Dodson .... +Amos Caldwell . 3 Jordan Dodson 1792 - 1871 .... +Polly Elton 1792 - 2 Eleanor Dodson 1743 - 1808 .. +Eleazor Andrews *2nd Husband of Eleanor Dodson: .. +Thomas Taylor . 3 Nancy Taylor - 1834 . 3 Judith Taylor . 3 Billington Taylor 1771 - . 3 Luraney Taylor 1775 - . 3 Greenham Taylor 1778 - 1809 .... +Anna ? . 3 Tabitha Taylor 1780 - . 3 Thomas Taylor 1782 - 2 George Dodson 2 William Dodson 2 Hightower Dodson 1750 - 1823 . 3 Amelia "Millie" Dodson 2 Rawleigh "Rolly" Dodson 1756 - 1836 .. +Margaret "Peggy" Dodson 1750 - . 3 Eleanor "Nelly" Dodson 1780 - 1844 .... +John Fitzgerald 1778 - 1858 . 3 Unity Dodson - 1827 .... +Hightower Dodson 1781 - . 3 Presley Dodson 1788 - 1840 .... +Mary Mays Beach . 3 Bird Dodson 1790 - 1869 .... +Judith Holland 1798 - If this is incorrest, then which children go with each Thomas and Greenham? Actually, they all did use "Reply to Author" as the list is set up so that replies go to ALL instead of the writer. Be patient. I think Betty will soon have sent a copy to the entire list of subscribers :) Alley (Dodson List Mgr) alley@tampabay.rr.com -----Original Message----- >Would all of you wanting a copy of Betty's file, please direct your response >to her personally (see the icon "Reply to Author") and NOT broadcast your >message to the entire List? I agree- Please instruct all future free offers to direct their requests DIRECT to the offerer and not to the whole world. Joseph
Would all of you wanting a copy of Betty's file, please direct your response to her personally (see the icon "Reply to Author") and NOT broadcast your message to the entire List? I'm getting a callous on my thumb from striking the delete key.
Betty, Thanks for looking! Someday I'll find poor Catherine! Cyndi
Lila, No, afraid not...the ONLY Dodson I have so far is poor Catherine/Katherine b. ca 1649, m. to Henry Boggess in Northumberland Co, VA, d. after 1680. Wish I could connect her... Anyone else with Dodsons in that part of VA in the early 1600's? Thanks, Cyndi
Hi Betty, I'm a new subscriber and have a link to Charles. I use FTM, version 4.0, but that shouldn't be a problem. Would you mind making a .fbc from the File::Backup Family File menu which will work with FTM 4.0. 1 Charles 2 Thomas 3 Thomas George 4 Alice Lazarus 5 Elizabeth +William Ingram Thanks Mike Smeltzer Vienna Virginia msmeltzer@inri.com At 01:14 PM 11/11/98 -0500, you wrote: >I have been collecting Dodson and Dotson information (separate from my own >Dotson ancestors) and now have about 1500 Dodsons/Dotsons in a separate FTM >file; many are the Dodsons descending from Charles Sr. Others are early PA >and MD, and others are only a few generations not connected up yet. As your file is a gedcom I can open it with Family Orgins, I have the FTM 4.0 and won't upgrade. Would like to look at some new info on the Dodson line. Thanks Judy
To the 2nd zillion who have requested the file. Unfortunately, I have to go to work today (Boo!), but I promise tonight or tomorrow at the latest, I'll be glad to forward it to those of you who asked. Please send me any corrections you have from your files. I did not realize how MANY seekers there are out there! Lots of quiet Dodson/Dotsons (until now). I am very happy to share this information, and if it helps anyone that's great. So, be patient, and I'll crank up again and get it out. Jynette sent me this note (for those of you who have less than 5.0 version): Betty can create a GEDCOM for 4.0 or 5.0. Just have to create the report and save. When you save, a new screen comes up -- See File Destination. Click on each of the three button to the right and see all the option -- there are several and one may well fit the needs of the other persons computer and program. I'm not sure if this is for my end or others, but I haven't mastered much except the attachment of a file feature, so if I get time, I'll experiment with the GEDCOM forwarding, but for now, it's off to work for me -- to pay for all my books and programs! Best regards to all, Betty
These are al US families with just one reference that Daniel's descendants came from England. Sorry. Betty
Hi Betty I would also like a copy of that file but only if it includes some Dodsons from the UK or Canada. Thank You Ken Payne kpayne@sprint.ca
