Author: LizabethLinscomb Surnames: Dodson Linscomb Jones Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.dodson/1984/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Source from Colorado county, Texas, marriage records: Linscomb, Josiah (groom), was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Dodson (bride) on January 25, 1871, by Daniel W. Jackson, justice of the peace (Marriage Book E, page 210). They appear to be the same couple in the 1880 census for Lavaca county, Texas. Joseph born Ohio abt 1830 (father Ohio, mother NY) Elizabeth born Texas abt 1846 (father TX, mother Ohio), dau Elizabeth born TX about 1866, son Charlie born TX abt 1878. Would like to ID this Elizabeth's maiden name so that I can ID the Joseph. I believe son Charlie is the same Linscomb who married Ada Jones in Orange,TX, and moved first to LA and then to Kansas City as a blacksmith for the railroad. Daughter Elizabeth may be a Dodson or Josiah's from previous marriage. Anyone missing a Dodson who married an Elizabeth born in Texas? The Ohio relationship may be a clue. Marriage would have been before 1871. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you don't know who Princess Nicketti is, she was the daughter of Chief Opencancanough and Princess Cleopatra and she married Trader Hughes. Sound familiar? Her story was passed by from generation to generation and families will swear that their Indian nose or black hair is surely all the proof required to show their Indian ancestry. the problem with both ancestries are identical, there is no proof of either. My question to this board is this: 1. Who is the father of Charles Dodson? The answer cannot be found on ancestry.com or in a family history book, someones CD that is all yours for $20.00 or any internet site, even this message board. The answer must come from a piece of paper from his time. A legal document which shows a relationship between Charles and his father. This piece of paper does not exist! If you are unable to document your relationship to Charles' father, which you cannot, the rest of this stuff is inconsequential. Eagle Plume/Nicketti it's all made up stuff and fluff. Family lore is one thing, but it has no business on a genealogy website. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The female who I suspect is Asa's daughter, is Sarah Elizabeth b 1809 KY. It is known that Asa lived in Pulaski County KY at that time. For some reason, he relocated to Maury County TN where Sarah Dodson married Thomas Bannister Morris on 26 Oct 1828. By 1829 both Asa & Thomas are indexed in Graves County KY where they owned adjoining pieces of land. I've been there & seen the land with my-own two-eyes. James Dodson is said to-be Asa's son. I'm almost certain Asa is Sarah's father, but because I'm such a "stickler" for "facts", it would be nice to have a piece of paper to "prove" it. Thomas Morris & Sarah Dodson were my 3rd gr grandparents. Together they had Elijah Newton (E.N.) Morris who was my gr gr grandfather. They left KY for TX abt 1856. You will find them on the 1860 census in Van Zandt County TX. you're very kind to help me. thank you sincerely, Melanie By-the-way, what are the names of the other sons listed as being Asa's sons? There is a reference to 5 sons with names but only a reference to several daughters and researchers were unable to learn the names. Have you checked the marriage records for her name, some times the father is listed. Another idea is to check local churches for postings of up coming marriages. The census shows Asa in Graves Ky 1830, 1840, 1850 (show A and Nancy and someone has penciled in Armsread which I would question unless that is an alternate name, as James Dodson who fits in Asa's line is on the very next page.) 1. [Dodson] OBIT Elizabeth Whitmore (DOTSON)
    2. Barbara & George Grenier
    3. Posted: Friday, September 14, 2012 2:22 pm | Updated: 3:57 pm, Fri Sep 14, 2012. POWELL Elizabeth Dotson Whitmore, 36, lost her battle to breast cancer on Sept. 12, 2012. A loving daughter, wife, mother, friend and teacher, she leaves a legacy of love, courage and strength with her parents (Bob and Daleen), husband (Wes), sons (Jack and Max), grandmother (Leona), in-laws (Betty and Dick), sister-in-law (Heather), aunts, uncles, countless devoted friends and former students. Beth was the person who walked into a room and her smile drew you to her. Early in her life she was a member of 4-H, a cheerleader at Alexander High School in Albany, Ohio, and past Athens County Fair Queen. She attended Ohio University and received her bachelor’s degree in education in 1998. Later that year she married her soul mate and middle-school sweetheart, Wes Whitmore. She realized her dream of becoming a teacher, most recently with Dublin City Schools, and a mother to sons Max and Jack, in whom she will live on. When she was diagnosed with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, in true Beth fashion, she used her strong determination, the love of her family and support of her friends to face treatments, surgery and radiation. Beth fought for the time that she had left to be with her family and friends and make memories that will last a lifetime. She is a warrior, a hero, and a role model. She taught us that every moment of life is precious and should never be wasted. She showed that love, patience, kindness, and courage are hallmarks for which we should all strive. Beth was taken from us too early in her life, but we will forever carry her in our hearts. We love you Beth! Her family invites you to join in honoring and celebrating Beth and the impact she had on everyone she met beginning with calling hours from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Rutherford Funeral Home (www.rutherfordfuneralhome.com) at 450 W. Olentangy St., Powell, Ohio. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, at the Powell United Methodist Church at 825 E. Olentangy St., Powell. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you support a benefit held in her honor at <http://www.only4bethwhitmore.com>www.only4bethwhitmore.com. http://www.athensohiotoday.com/obituaries/elizabeth-whitmore/article_2280781e-fe99-11e1-ba42-001a4bcf887a.html
