if you run through the 1265 Charter to do with the monks of Paisley, you'll see Howston (Houstoun) which is on Bute, and Prestwick and Turnbury in Ayrshire, to mention at just three pieces of land outside the Cowal peninsula. I know they also owned Stronalbanch which is north of Cowal (I think), slap bang in what is thought of by most as Campbell territory. There are clear records for a Fearchar son of Nigelli of Bute. I have no idea now if this is the same Fearchar as the other Fearchar (also of Bute) but it could be. If that's the case than why is his father called Duinnsleibhe in the pedigree? I know it becomes non historical at some point but I have no proof at which point.
